The WoW Forever beta ended tonight. We used the last day to try as much as possible directly in the game. Here is what came out of it, what was added since this morning's post, and how things continue until launch on November 4. The new addon features are in v1.20261023.2, released tonight.
The addon records your journey
New is the Journal module. It remembers key moments with their time:
- every level-up
- finished dungeons, with duration and who was there
- profession steps 75, 150, 225 and 300
- noticeable upgrades from level 10: green or better, at least +2 points or 10 % better than before
- the first epic item
- blue items you craft, for orders also for whom
- reached shared goals
No gold, no loot lists, no "who won what". The journal is on from the start, so nothing is missing from day one. Under Settings › Journal each kind can be switched off on its own. It already worked in the beta: a starting point at the first login, then the first level-up.
What is it for? It becomes the diary on the website.
Where the website is heading: a diary of the journey
The area behind the login becomes the journal of your group's journey. At the top the road to 60 with all five of you, below it a chronicle, on the right the group, the next event and the biggest upgrade of the day. Every day turns into its own page in the diary at midnight, and the weeks become chapters. That way you can really look back on the whole journey at the end. Everyone can also add their own note to a day.

A few pages go away for it, whose content is better placed in the addon: Professions, Stock and the dungeon planner. The group's professions are in the addon and the camp planner, upgrades in the public upgrade finder. The diary comes after launch. Recording starts on day one, so nothing is lost.
What we learned on the last beta day
- Talent tree when inspecting: another player's whole tree with ranks comes through, it worked for a warrior. For a hunter nothing came yet, we are looking into it.
- PvP when inspecting: the game gives honorable kills for today, yesterday and lifetime, plus the rank points to the next rank (e.g. 0 / 750). It does not give the rank itself for other players. Our PvP tab therefore gets a bar for the rank points and shows "Civilian" at rank 0.
- Group sync works: a group member's shared goals and ratings arrived.

Smaller fixes
- Fewer requests to the server: items the game does not deliver were requested again on every redraw, one of them over 200 times an hour. Now only a few times per session. By the way, the client logs give no sign that the addon caused any disconnects.
- Inspect window: "Shrink" now also works when the player has gone out of range.
- Goals: "1 goal" instead of "1 goals". In the website import, goals no longer show up as "invalid" by mistake.
- The addon page now shows new screenshots in the new style.
What comes next in the addon
- Polish from the beta screenshots: line spacing of small text, cut-off texts, the PvP rank points and the hunter's talent tree.
- "Guild" tab in the inspect window: name, faction, members, what you have already rated about players of that guild, and at the push of a button who is online right now.
- Group state at the quest window: when accepting and turning in, you see who in the group has the quest, how far they are and who can share it.
- Group goals in more detail: kind of goal, bars like your own goals and how recent the data is.
- Flight map: a clear card next to the flight map. "Still missing in the group" shows who still needs which flight point. "You don't know yet" shows what you still have to discover yourself.
Until launch
From October 26 everything gets a full check: usability, data and security. On launch night we pull the item data from the live client and check the versions. Thanks to everyone who tested in the beta – see you on November 4!
